Campcraft Team'08
the legacy

our flag flew high and so victoriously...

when we shared tears of joy...

when hardwork simply pays off...

when our cheers mean so much...

when the weight in the hands is felt worth while...

that is when we know we are the real champions.

Everyone has updated their blog about the results, reflections and thoughts about the campcraft results and stuff except me. Of course, the best is always kept for the last. :D
Campcraft competition to me is definitely one of the most queer competition I have ever heard of and even after the competition, my view doesnt change. Initially, I was cursing the person who started this competition of building shelters, pitching tents and building gay structures when we got the canteen just next to us. No use right. But after the whole
process *jerome's accent*, I think its a competition that brings people from all walks of life, of very different personalities and with one goal together and build friendship and teamwork. Without passion, teamwork, friendship, trust and fun, I dont think we would succeed into the finals, needless to say for getting champions.
Though we are still building the same useless shelter in modern day terms but its the team that makes the difference. Dont you guys agree?
Anyhow, getting champions was something within our reach for our batch. Not being proud or complacent here but even the seniors saw the potential in us when we were cadets. However, due to our attitude and many other stuff (such as being the squad of many firsts), we didnt reach there until much later.
And that is with much help by our dear instructors.

Sir Kelvyn is officially my new idol.
Why? Simple reasons as sacrificing much for people you dont really know and in the end, not benefiting anything from it in the end. I was very touched when I read his blog and he said that in midst of the many things he was doing currently, we were one that he saw result in.
He was our motivation pillar whom inspired many of us to stay on in the campcraft when we didnt see any light at the end of the tunnel. Ask around the campcraft people, and we wont deny that almost half of us stayed around because of him. I'm a living proof of that statement.

Sir Kelvyn, you may not know, but YOU made a huge difference in our batch. Campcraft initially didnt mean much to most of us. Carrying on the legacy of champions was probably the dreams of only the captains. After all, we screwed up being NCOs, screwing up campcraft isnt such a big deal after all. Comparing then and now, we can safely say that you made the huge difference.
Thank you SO much sir.
To Sir ZY, Ma'am Hazi, Sir Johnathan and other '06 instructors, thankyou for believing in us and putting in good words for us to Ms Nani. Though we do find you guys naggy at times, it is never wasted as that naggings spur us on to prove you guys wrong. Some of you retain or slack in your studies, just to train us but nevertheless, we're touched by it. Thank you so much instructors! (:

On the finals day itself, I didnt take the same bus to HTA as I had to (unfortunately) bring the unit there. The night before, while sewing the flags when everyone was asleep, many fond thoughts and memories clouded my mind. I promised myself to blog it out so here it is.
Girls team:

Jinyi:

our DEAR CAPTAIN. you never know how much you mean to the team! although you're naggy at times but we always saw you as the head and respected you a whole load. Everytime you are disappointed, the whole team is affected you know? Personally, I'm really touched by the every effort you put into the team, even the small minute things we many not notice, such as health. I remember the time you were so concerned for me when I was kicked out from the team. You didnt dare to tell me the news from Sir Kelvyn and even comforted me in the toilet. JY, thanks a whole bunch.
Meera:

VICECAPS are always the sexier ones right? And of course, the more bimbotic ones. (JOKING) You bring life to the team and you were the one that had the most confidence in the team, not to mention, the most influential one too. Thanks for always telling me that no matter what others say, you'll always see me as part of the team. (:
Cyn, Fatin, Shawn, Audy, Gwen, Amanda:

You girls have always been so enthu about campcraft and even though you girls are sick, you all still make an effort to come for campcraft. What can I say? Its admirable. Shawn, I must say that you are damn damn pro okay. Though many people may not see your role as one as prestigious as the lasher's but your job is equal to that. Without the twine cutter, whats there left for the team to do?
My dear R gang,
Rachel and Shirley:

The team can never do without its reserves right? We have folded and untied like hundreds of ponchos together and provided the best laundry service ever! I'll miss it alot!
To my darling
Yinglin:

I guess giving up my post was for a good cause afterall. My foresight is good eh? At least I let someone whose gadget is worthy for a mocca ad take over and impress the judges (esp one of them!). As my best friend, I think you already know everything on my mind and felt what I felt. But there is just one thing I've yet to tell you... and that your hardwork has always impressed me and you're the best. (:
GUYS team:
(as the post is getting way too long, im keeping it short here yea?)

Guys, I'm glad you guys did your best on the finals. Getting double champions would have been really great but its the fun, joy, tears (though little from you guys) and crap that counts right?
Coolie, it must have been hard for you. Being the captain must have been difficult, especially getting so much complains from both the instructors and teammates. But you made it in the end, right? (and please stop hitting my head. :D)
Benny, you have been so supportive of the girls. Other than yongxi, you're the other one who always is there for the girls.
Ivan, I know many things have changed but I still regard you as a really good and close friend of mine. Friendship doesnt change that easily, right? I still remember the times where we persuaded each other to stay in campcraft when either one of us wanted to quit. Thanks for the support, Ivan. Smile more yea? Oh yea, on the last note,
Siddiq, MUSTACHE!
Campcraft has left great, sweaty, muddy and yet memorable memories with me which definitely would not be forgotten for a long time.
I love you guys. (:
