OH NO.

Can you believe it? I'm listening to Song From A Secret Garden, Nocturne and Koi etc...

CLASSICAL MUSIC.
OMGEEEEZZZZ.

I got a certain liking to them now. OH NO. What happened to my rocker self? Sorry, my 2 boyfriends. *sayang sayang*

But hor, I think I really like the classical piece that Xiaowen played yesterday. The fruit basket one.

Oh no... I'm evolving.

P.S I think Kitaro's songs are nice too.

Beijing'08 Day 1
, 9:52 pm | 0 comments

Other than trying to entertain myself by watching Heroes season 3 which loads uber slowly, I'm seriously bored lah. There isnt any blogs to hop cause they are yet to be updated (yes, even the popular ones which I like visit near 4 times a day) so I end up blogging instead.

Today was supposed to go for this Majolica makeover thing at Ngee Ann City but Tabs couldnt make it. Walao, damn disappointed lah! Was damn looking forward to it cause apparently Majolica is a JAPANESE brand AND they were giving out some cool products which cost a bomb. ARGGGHHHH!! *super sad*

Okay, so i'll post bout' my Beijing Trip in parts so today's Day1!

Beijing Trip 2008

Overall, the trip was alright though the tour itinerary was kinda boring. I mean like Beijing's for people who are super interested in China's history and culture. Note that I mentioned SUPER interested cause even slightly (make that kinda) interested people like me found it overwhelming and boring, so I wonder how people like Tabs with really no interest in it felt. Not only Tabs didnt have the interest, she didnt really bother to catch their accent so.... I've nothing much to say.

But as expected, the people there do 3 major things.

They smoke, spit and shout.

And piss wherever they like. So as Tabs say, no puddle is safe! We saw parents asking their kids to have a piss in front of a accessory shop on the public road. Imagine seeing some kid urinating in front of watsons or smt at prolly Tampines Mall. That's how bad it is!

The only thing I enjoyed there was maybe their weather, though its a tad too dry. Ranges from -4 at dawn to 10 in the afternoon, the weather is PERFECT for me. :D I can just wear a layer of thermals, a longsleeve shirt to cover it up and my windbreaker thingy thick jacket and I'll feel perfectly warm despite the horrible wind. Bottoms wise, my jeans is just fine, no need for 2 layers. Kiasu people like Tabs wear 4 to 5 on the top and 2 for the bottom so it varies.
I would definitely like to go back there just for the weather. (:

Shopping there is pretty horrible.

Horribly cheap (for most items) AND for that happen, the bargaining (or should i say arguing?) is even more horrible. The sales attendant plead (nicer ones), chase, push, tug, scold, scream, and start throwing their stuff at you just to make you buy it. Dont think by walking away they will let go of you. They CHASE after you and keep lowering the price if they are nice. Mad house. But of course, you can get stuff like at dirt cheap. E.g. my oriental top for like 6 Singapore dollars ( singapore shops selling at 40?)

Time spent shopping is like this:
Given time: 2 hours
Wandering time: 20 minutes
Spotted something and start looking at it: 10 minutes
Bargaining time: 30 to 45 minutes

Total number of things bought at the end: max 2.

Thats why I didnt buy everything I wanted to! Samuel! Help me buy please? :D
I'll show you what I bought in all at the end of the trip. :D

Beijing Day One.

Took the night flight at midnight. Uncle Choon Chye was real nice to send us to the airport in his comfy Odyssey. I miss our black Odyssey lor... Had like 2 hours to wander around the almost empty terminal 1.

The flight was BAD man. The airplane had no entertainment, unlike SQ but whats worse is that most of us couldnt sleep well that night. I could sleep though, thanks to NP, making us sleep in the most uncomfortable positions ever. But it was still very uncomfortable.

Their landing was HORRIBLE. Both times! It was as though they were doing freefall lah! Hopefully Silkair wont be like this as well. I still enjoy travelling on SQ or JAL. Thumbs up to their service! CA's service was....

The only thing I bothered to order that night. A cup of scorching hot unstirred instant coffee. On the top was bland coffee tasting water and a lump of powder at the bottom. AWESOME LAH.

Oh. And they served breakfast at 2 am? When we were SLEEPING.

Upon touching down at 6am, we were greeted by a lovely sunrise. Everyone else was still grumpy, sleepy and cold but I was all bubbly after seeing this sunrise. Sunrises and Sunsets just simply put a smile on my face.

After walking and walking and walking....
this is the new airport.

Josiah, the other happy kid. upon seeing food that is.

Tabs, the tired, hungry and grumpy one.

Proof that EVERYTHING's in chinese.

Our attempt to camwhore but we're seriously too tired.

Our excitement upon seeing these trees. SO PREEEEETTTTYYYYYYYYY!!!!

My favorite breakfast cause the rest was in the hotel. The usual spread. Super nice porridge!

Ruth-a-tu-sus

Happy Kiddies.

Uber cute balls.

And uber cute Ruth. She did that on purpose lah! Model to be!

Attempt to look demure and classy. Failed.

Horrible jams on monday morns.

(SO BEAUTIFUL HOR?)

I dunno why, but I have a certain liking to this picture. I guess its the colour.

Lunch time. Eating again.
The very famous Duck place? QuanJuDe.

Eating again! Ruth's so "excited".

And did I mention that every meal we have beer AND sprite? EVERYMEAL.
I take the beer, of course. By the mid of the trip, I taught Sam how to drink!

Aiyo... Drunk so early!

Waiting-for-the-duck activities.

Food's here!

Check out the number of roast ducks!

Duck Hand Roll? Not bad lah, though its their signature dish. Super oily.

ALL the dishes had DUCK in it. Oh, the horror.
Again, the usual spread. 8 to 9 dishes per meal. Excluding the rice.

AHHHH! SO full. You'll never be hungry after a meal in Beijing.

Yep, must pose with the duck. (To show i'm taller than it)

This is SO CUTE. I was literally chasing after it to take a picture in it. Now thats truly china.

Windmiles, Signboards and more bicycles!

The only self shot picture in the entire trip I think!

Eskimos? More like furry heads! We wore them the other way around to scare the little kiddies on the bus.

Lovely trees. I'm gonna make sure I stay/study in a 4 season country next time.

and SUPER blue skies! Sorry for the reflection though.

Cable Bus.

Shopping for an hour after lunch, checked into our room, zonked out for a few hours before having dinner (EAT AGAIN. OMGZ)and lastly went to watch an acrobat act at a local theater. No pictures of those cause... nothing to take mah.

So its mostly roads pictures for the first day. Haha... Nice whatttt...
Well, this is just the good side of Beijing so the streets look decent and stuff. Loads more to see on the later posts!

Next post: Beijing Day 2.
The awesome sunrise. (told you they make me happy)
Amazingly I woke up early enough to watch it. The 2 other bed koalas (Sam and Tabs) were still snoring away. Esp one of them!

I super love this picture! And its only slightly edited! Contrast!
